Monday Week 6

Wow week 6 already. The sun is out again and the builders are smiling. Today the front wall started to go up. The front has to be done with normal bricks up to the same height as the rest of the house to keep the character. One of the things we hadn't thought about though is that the old bricks are imperial measurements and the new ones are metric! This means that the bricks aren't quite the same size as the ones in the porch!! They will be pointed in white to match the rest of the front of the house later. At the side the guttering between our house and Eddies utility room has been sorted out and at the back we now have a double skin wall up to the height of the window. It's all insulated with a fluffy yellow stuff called rock wool! It will be a shock to have warmth in the house, something for which this house is not renowned!
